Objective-C as a legitimate gaming language (for non-ios)

Hi. I was wondering, how good does Obj-C fair for non-ios (so, mac) 3d games? I have delved into C++ a little, but I think (and have been told) that Objective-C would be better since I do not plan on straying from macs, and I have people that can code in C++ on Windows if I were to ever start some kind of group-game-project.

But my question is, is Obj-C a good language for making 3D games, and I don't mean simple ios games, I mean like, a nice, mac games? I would like to be a game developer in the future (and mostly develop on Macs) so I need to know if Obj-C is a viable, professional language for doing so. Also, any tips on starting game developing? What should I learn, or start with? I currently am just learning Obj-C from the Apple Developer Resources thing and C++ from a For Dummies book

(This is all in terms of using Xcode)

Well, that was scatterbrained and repetitive!

Anyways, thanks.
